My friends and I had the opportunity to escape to Lakeside Layover in the beautiful Village of Bayfield. Despite the chilly weather, our spirits were high, and the charm of this cottage made our stay nothing short of magical.
Nestled just a short walk from both Main St. and Lake Huron, Lakeside Layover offered the perfect blend of convenience and tranquility. The cottage boasts 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, providing ample space for our group of 10. We were thrilled to discover a newly installed electric heated sauna in the backyard, offering a luxurious way to unwind after a day of spring adventures.
Arrival and Warm Welcome
Our arrival on Friday evening was met with delight as everyone commented on the spaciousness of the cottage. We were especially appreciative of the thoughtful amenities, including a dog crate and bowls set out for dog owners like us, as we had brought Alice along for the trip.
Culinary Delights
We all had brought way too much food for the weekend, so we started our evening in the fully stocked kitchen, which had everything we needed to cook up a storm.
Local Entertainment
Saturday morning started with a hearty breakfast prepared in the well-appointed kitchen. In the afternoon, we ventured to Bad Apple Brewing, a brewhouse located just south of Bayfield, for some live entertainment and delicious drinks. This is certainly one of our favorite things to do in Bayfield.
Exploring Bayfield
In the evening, we ventured into the heart of Bayfield, exploring the main street and visiting a handful of charming stores. We couldn’t resist dining at The Black Dog, where we indulged in a delectable meal. The food was so good that we decided to stay for dessert – a true testament to the quality of the experience.
Soothing Sauna Experience
The highlight of our stay was, without a doubt, the sauna. After having dinner, we eagerly retreated to its soothing heat, melting away the day’s chill and relaxing our muscles. It was a moment of pure bliss, surrounded by friends, enveloped in warmth, and surrounded by the soft glow of the sauna’s lights. A cottage rental with a sauna is perfect!
Game Night Fun
Returning to the cottage, we spent the evening challenging each other in the games room, which features ping pong, air hockey, basketball, and a poker table! We also enjoyed some board games in the cozy living room, making the most of our time together.
Our spring retreat at Lakeside Layover was truly magical. The combination of modern amenities, cozy living spaces, and proximity to local attractions made it the perfect escape from the winter blues.
