Who We Are

At CottageStays, we aren’t a stiff corporation; we are the helpful local friends who know exactly when the sun sets on Lake Huron. Our mission is to “Make Memories Happen” for guests and make “Cottage Renting Made Easier” for our owners. We provide “Mother Hen” levels of care, ensuring every beloved vacation cottage is treated with the stewardship it deserves.

The Mission

Our housekeepers are the most important members of our team—they set the tone for every family’s perfect vacation. As our Changeover Specialist, your job is to lift them up! You are an enthusiastic coach who ensures our team has the tools, skills, and supplies they need to shine. Whether you’re teaching the art of the perfectly made bed or troubleshooting a smart lock, you are the hero behind the scenes making sure everything is “guest-ready.”

A Day in the Life

This is a dynamic field role for someone who loves being on the move and out of the office.

  • Start: You’ll begin at the head office to pick up supplies and the CottageStays truck. And given a task list – NOTE: this list will drastically change as the day unfolds
  • The Route: Head to our laundry facility in Bayfield to load up, then hit the road! You’ll be driving from St. Joseph up to Goderich, and occasionally Point Clark and Inverhuron.
  • Your #1 Priority: Supporting the Team The most important part of your day is the time spent with our housekeepers. You aren’t just checking boxes; you are:
  • Chatting and Connecting: Building relationships with our housekeepers to ensure they feel supported, never abandoned.
  • Topping Up Essentials: Ensuring every cottage is fully stocked with the “Mother Hen” details that matter—salt and pepper, toilet paper, paper towels, and more.
  • Identifying & Assisting: Spotting areas for improvement and jumping in to help the housekeepers master those tasks, from perfect bed-making to that final “last look
  • Setting the Tone We will train you on exactly how to make a property “guest-ready.” This goes beyond just being clean; but making the cottage ‘Gezellig”—setting the stage so that the moment a guest walks in, the lights are on, the music is playing, and they can immediately start making memories.
  • The “Last Look”: You’ll inspect properties for excellence, ensuring decks and porches are pristine and everything meets our high company standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the “Army”: Act as a proactive coach for our housekeeping team.
  • Field Maintenance: Handle small fixes (like tightening a drawer handle) and light troubleshooting (resetting Wi-Fi routers or smart locks).
  • Tech Management: Use Operto on your smartphone to grab checklists, report issues, and document property status with photos.
  • Coordination: Work closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor and Guest Services Manager to solve the day’s “surprises” calmly and effectively.

What You Bring to the Team

  • The Vibe: You are dependable, kind, and a natural “steward” of beautiful homes.
  • Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable using property management software on your own phone.
  • Detail-Oriented: You notice the little things that others miss—you take pride in the “details” and the “last look”.
  • Problem Solver: You have a “can-do” attitude and can take direction while remaining proactive.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Clear Record: Must have a valid Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract.

Requirements

  • Personal transportation to Clinton/Brucefield.
  • A smartphone capable of texting and taking high-quality photos.
  • Previous housekeeping experience is a huge plus!.
