A relaxing girls’ getaway was just what my friends and I needed, and our weekend at Bedrock Beach House exceeded our expectations in every way.
A Snowy Start to Serenity
We visited at the start of March on a weekend that was calling for a snow storm. To beat the weather we headed out earlier than planned, and found the cute cottage right on the lake easily using the guidebook Jennifer provided the day before we arrived.
Games Galore and Unexpected Delights
On the way to the cottage, we realized we had forgotten the games we had planned on bringing. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Bedrock Beach House came fully stocked with games, including our favorite game, Catan.
There are alot of great restaurants in the area so we had planned to head out to the White Squirrel for live music and dinner, but the snow had other plans for us. We ended up grabbing a lasagna and garlic bread from the local market, Jerry Raders, and had our dinner and some cocktails by the fire. While it wasn’t what we had planned it ended up being a great way to spend the evening.
After dinner we spent the night enjoying some of the activities the cottage has to offer – adult colouring being one we didn’t expect to be so popular and then we watched a movie on the SmartTV. The living room has everything you need for a cozy movie night: a fireplace, comfy seating, and five matching plaid blankets…one for each of us!
Sweet Dreams and Snug Retreats
We called it a night after the movie and headed to bed. Since there were 5 of us we shared the beds and all slept soundly. The bedrooms were cozy and the beds were comfortable and had lots of pillows which is a must have for a girls weekend when you’re over 30.
Morning Serenity and Lakefront Views
The next morning the weather had settled and we were able to enjoy a coffee from the keurig machine while doing some bird watching out of the large windows that overlook the lake. The view was stunning and we wanted to enjoy it even more so after our coffees we headed out for a hot tub. We could have stayed out there all day!
Our day and night contained more relaxing and even more great food. We used the fully stocked kitchen to make an island full of appetizers including slow cooked ribs that were finished on the BBQ and freshly baked cookies. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Furry Friends and Cottage Adventures
A couple other highlights from our stay were that our furry friend Alice was able to join us. Alice proved that she is a cottage dog and made for the cottage life. She is looking forward to her next pup-cation at the Bedrock. We also appreciated that the internet was fast enough to stream our nephews hockey game so we didn’t have to miss out on an important game.
Our weekend at the Bedrock Beach House was exactly what we were looking for – it was relaxing, had incredible views, and felt like a home away from home. The one thing we didn’t get to experience was the trail down to the beach but it’s just a reason to head back this summer for another getaway at Bedrock Beach House!
