Hey there, fellow adventurers! I recently had the incredible opportunity to experience a little piece of paradise in the charming village of Bayfield. As part of a ‘staff review,’ I enjoyed a fantastic stay at a lakefront cottage just south of Bayfield, and let me tell you, it was an adventure worth sharing.
Arrival and Warm Welcome
Our journey began as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink. The cottage was a beacon of warmth and coziness, with soft outdoor lighting leading the way. Inside, inviting table lamps cast a warm glow, setting the perfect ambiance for a relaxing evening.
Movie Night and Cozy Bedrooms
Our first night was all about relaxation. We huddled up in the cozy living room and watched a movie, sinking into the plush cushions of the sofa. The cottage offered two adorable bedrooms that were perfect for our small group. The warmth and comfort of the place made us feel right at home.
Unexpected Beach Day
The next day was a pleasant surprise. Despite it being early October, we were greeted by a warm fall day with the sun shining brightly. So, what did we do? We had an impromptu beach day! The refreshing lake water invited us to dip our toes and pick some unique stones along the shore. It was a perfect day for enjoying the outdoors.
Exploring Bayfield
In the evening, we ventured into the heart of Bayfield, exploring the main street and visiting a handful of charming stores. We couldn’t resist dining at The Black Dog, where we indulged in a delectable meal. The food was so good that we decided to stay for dessert – a true testament to the quality of the experience.
Hot Tub Bliss and Rainy Day Respite
The next day, a couple more friends joined us at the cottage. Even though the weather turned rainy, the cottage’s natural surroundings provided some cover. We decided to make the most of it and enjoy the hot tub for relaxation and rejuvenation. The view from the hot tub was fantastic, and we could only imagine how stunning it would be on a clear day.
Campfire and Local Delights
As evening approached, we lit a fire in the outdoor fireplace on the covered deck out back. Dinner was a hearty soup from the local Jerry Raders in Zurich, a meal that truly hit the spot. And, of course, we couldn’t resist the temptation of their butter tarts for dessert – absolutely scrumptious!
Game Night and Comfortable Beds
The night wound down with a spirited game of ‘Mexican Trains.’ Laughter filled the air as we enjoyed friendly competition. Everyone agreed that the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the overall ambiance of the cottage was spot-on.
