Are you looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life? Perhaps you should consider visiting a cottage and experiencing the wonder of bird migration.

Birders in our area always get excited around the middle to the end of March, because this is when our first large spring bird migration Ontario occurs. Around this time the Tundra Swans fly in by the thousands, filling the sky and flooding farmers’ fields. They’re often looking for tasty snacks and a little bit of rest on their long journey up north to their breeding grounds.

Later in April, we start to see an influx of bird species. This is around the time when several types of birds come to our backyards, such as Northern Flickers, Yellow-bellied sapsuckers, Chipping sparrows, Fox sparrows, Turkey Vultures, Red-winged Blackbirds, European Starlings, and Grackels.

The month of May is very well known in Ontario for Spring Bird Migration. Plenty of events are held this month to celebrate a great gathering of many little songbirds. Birders from all over the world flock to Ontario parks to witness this, because there is hardly any other place in the world where birders can consistently view a massive variety of bird species at one time in such an area!

So why not plan a getaway to a cozy cottage and witness the magic of bird migration firsthand? You will see they stop for a rest on the water and when you get up in the morning, you can enjoy coffee and lots and lots of bird conversations!!
You’ll be surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature and have the opportunity to witness one of the most awe-inspiring natural events on the planet. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable experience.
